Five members of the Lea Singers choir walking along the driveway of Academy St Albans in 2019

Not many people know that Vivaldi wrote at least three settings of the text Gloria In Excelsis Deo, and that only two survived: RV 588 (rarely heard) and RV 589 (the famous one). Placing selected movements of each mass side-by-side in the same concert, The Lea Singers and professional instrumentalists explore the differences between the two works, to try and understand why they have experienced such vastly different histories. BBC Baroque expert Lindsay Kemp helps set the context with a short introduction starting the concert at 7.30pm.
